Hunting blind

We've made it our goal to provide the physically challenged (those confined to wheelchairs or legally blind) with the opportunity to experience first-hand the challenges and rewards of big game hunting in beautiful, remote surroundings.

The location:
The Ballinger Wilderness Retreat is located about 25 miles from Cody, Wyoming and about the same from the East Entrance to Yellowstone Park. The property is accessed by a 3.5-mile trip up a 4-wheel drive road.

The hunt:
Wheelchair accessible, spacious hunting blind; soundproof, heated, panoramic view. Hundreds of elk and deer winter in the area. We have a very high hunter success rate.

We offer:
5-day hunt for antlerless elk
10-day hunt for any elk license
5-day deer hunt

Our facilities:
The wheelchair accessible cabin sleeps up to 5 family-style and offers a modern kitchen and bathroom, running water, shower, generator, wood heat, and spectacular views. When a caregiver is needed, hunters will need to bring their own caregiver - accommodations for caregivers included in the price. Our facilities can accommodate the smaller motorized wheelchairs only - hunters with larger motorized wheelchairs can make arrangements for lodging in Wapiti or Cody. (We can provide contact information). Transportation from Cody airport to the hunt area can be arranged if needed.

Hunting Licenses:
Applications for non-resident elklicenses must be in to the Wyoming Game & Fish between Jan. 1 and Jan. 31 - if you've missed this date for the current year, call us and we can give you further information on late drawings. For both elk and deer hunting license applications, visit http://gf.state.wy.us

Surrounding Area:
Three airlines (Frontier, United and Delta Connections) provide air service to Cody, the nearest airport. If you have extra time, Cody has numerous things to offer including the world-class Buffalo Bill Historical Center, with the Cody Firearms Museum, Draper Museum of Natural History, Whitney Gallery of Western Art, and the Plains Indian Museum. Cody also offers excellent dining opportunities.

Please call, write or email us for pricing and additional information.
