We've
made it our goal to provide the physically challenged (those
confined to wheelchairs or legally blind, and youth up to 21 with life-threatening illness) with the opportunity
to experience first-hand the challenges and rewards of big game
hunting in beautiful, remote surroundings.
The Ballinger Wilderness Retreat is located about 25 miles from
Cody, Wyoming and about the same from the East Entrance to Yellowstone
Park. The property is accessed by a 4.5-mile trip up a 4-wheel
drive road.
We have constructed a wheelchair accessible hunting blind with features and comforts to make for a safe, successful hunt. The blind is soundproofed, heated, and has a panoramic view. Hundreds of elk and deer winter in the area. Since 2000 the Physically Challenged Hunters have harvested well over 30 elk and many quality mule deer bucks. We have had 96 to 98% success on both deer and elk.
